Woman gives birth to miracle baby after she suffered 13 miscarriages in 12 years

A determined woman has finally given birth to a child after she had 13 miscarriages in 12 years.

The 32-year-old woman, who has only been named by her surname, Liu, gave birth to a baby via caesarean section in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University.

Liu, who comes from the district of Xinzhou, in the city of Wuhan, China, married in 2010 and became pregnant each year, but always had miscarriages in the early stages of pregnancy

Doctors diagnosed her with an autoimmune disease called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in 2017.

She was told by medics this was probably the reason for her miscarriages as the disease attacks every system in the human body.

SLE is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks its own tissues, causing widespread inflammation and tissue damage in the affected organs.

Although the doctors advised her to stop trying to have a child, she chose not to obey and continued her continuous cycle of pregnancy and miscarriage.

After 13 miscarriages in 12 years, doctors noticed her body had been weakened and she started suffering from hypothyroidism.

This is a condition where the thyroid cannot produce enough of its own hormone and deliver it to the blood system.

Her 14th pregnancy was confirmed in August 2021 and she gave birth on March 22.

In her fifth month of pregnancy, Liu went to hospital - worried about suffering another miscarriage - after suffering bleeding, abdominal pain and other discomforts.

The doctors treated her with miscarriage protection and anti-infection procedure and a delicate foetal protection treatment plan was prepared for her.

After her determined efforts to give birth Liu was finally blessed with a child gave birth via caesarian section to a premature baby. She was released from hospital three days later on March 25.

According to Dr Guo Juanjuan, one of he experts she dealt with while trying to give birth, SLE is prone to causing miscarriages.

But it is possible for pregnancies to be seen to term safely, but only with the proper medical care.

In January, The Mirror told about another woman who had given up on her dreams if getting pregnant again.

Emma White, 38, had given after her daughter Molly Rose was born 12 years ago.

She had 16 miscarriages in 20 years, but shared her joy at giving birth to two miracle babies after a rollercoaster pregnancy.

The mum described her pregnancy as "amazing" and was induced at 37 weeks to give birth to Aurora Azalea, 5lbs 2oz, and Ophelia Lili, 5lbs 11oz, on 2 October last year.

Emma then said: "I love being a twin mum. It’s not for everyone, but I cherish every single day.

"It still feels like a miracle even now the girls are three months old."
