Woman followed into hotel, man missing in freezing conditions and motorway closures

These are the latest Liverpool ECHO headlines this morning.

'Give me a kiss' man tells woman he followed to hotel

A journalist has shared her terrifying experience while investigating sexual harassment in Liverpool.

Ellie Flynn went "undercover" for BBC Dispatches as part of an investigation into the threats that women face on nights out. Her investigation brought her to Liverpool, where she pretended to be drunk and alone on a Saturday night in the city centre to see what would happen.

Despite having a security team on hand, Ellie claims her "heart was racing" when a man followed her back to her hotel room, after she told him she didn't want him to come. She said: "Despite giving the man no indication I want him to come with me, he follows me all the way back to my hotel room, which has been rigged with secret cameras.

"Dropping my drunk façade after the door closes, I ask him why he has followed me in. He insists: “We came together.” My heart is racing as I reply: “No we didn’t, you followed me. I never said to come.”

The man was eventually convinced to leave and apologised, before he reportedly turned around and said: "Come on, give me a kiss."

Police appeal for help to find 81-year-old missing in freezing conditions

Merseyside Police have released an appeal as they become "increasingly concerned" for a missing 81-year-old from Thingwall. Jack Irvine was last seen at 9am on Sunday morning by his wife, when he said he was going walking.

Police are also investigating in North Wales, as it is believed he was headed to Moel Famau. Officers added that they are worried about Jack's safety in the freezing weather conditions.

Jack is described as "white, about 5ft 6in tall with grey hair and blue eyes". A police description added: "When he was last seen he was wearing a dark coloured walking jacket, which is fleece lined; a pair of mustard coloured walking trousers and brown lace up shoes, but he also took his walking boots with him."
