Long-distance relationships are built on trust and communication. Most importantly, you believe the person on the other end of the call is exactly who they present themselves to be. When you have never shared a home or navigated a family holiday together, you are working with a version of a person that has been filtered through hours of conversation and the best intentions of both sides.
Sometimes that version holds up when tested. But when one woman flew from Egypt to the UK with her mother and sister to celebrate her fiancé’s birthday two months before their wedding, things did not hold up.
