Woman feels like 'bad mum' after mortifying call from beautician's husband

Even the simplest of errands can be a huge task when you've got your kids in tow, whether it's navigating a buggy through a packed supermarket or keeping toddlers entertained in the Post Office queue. But busy schedules mean we often take our little pride and joys along with us, normally just praying they'll behave.

But one mum was left red-faced after she got a telling off from a beautician's husband when she tried to juggle one too many things, and she's now wondering who was actually in the wrong.

Taking to Mumsnet, the anonymous woman explains she needed to nip to get her eyebrows done but had her children with her. Once the treatment was over and her brows were done, she realised she didn't have any cash so needed to go to a cashpoint.

She writes: "I normally go and get my eyebrows at the same place. I brought my kids with me. They only take cash, and the cash machine is literally two shops away, inside the mall.

"I have a double pram, one of my children was wrapped in, I said to the lady is it okay if I run and get the money and leave her with you.

"As soon as I left, her husband called me who was at the shop you needed to take your child with you, so angrily, as if I'm being a bad mum, and neglecting my child for taking two seconds.

"In hindsight maybe I was in the wrong - but in my mind I have been there for years and would quickly rush and leave, rather than taking the pram out.

"I felt so shamed and embarrassed by the incident. Was I in the wrong, please be kind I already feel like a s*** mum. I'm a single mother of two little ones, and I must admit I already feel like I don't know what I'm doing."

Some other mums told the woman not to panic because the lady in the shop said it was okay, but others said she should've got her money ready previously.

Would you have done the same? Let us know in the comments below.

One wrote: "You asked presumably and she said yes. No big deal. Do not worry about it!"

Another reassured: "Perfectly normal to leave a tot in a pram as a deposit and also for speed. Don't worry. He was being a grump. You did nothing wrong!"

Others didn't see it in the same way, with one commenting: "With kindness, you should not put the shop owner in the position of having to look after your child while you get cash out."

"Maybe next time get the money out first", another suggested.

"Just remember to get cash out on your way next time and then forget about this incident its no big deal in the grand scheme of things", one reassured.
