A 29-year-old man has been charged with murder after a young mother was fatally stabbed in Caboolture, north of Brisbane.
The Morayfield man has also been charged with two counts of attempted murder and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after a police pursuit on the Bruce Highway.
Police said the 27-year-old woman, identified as Heather Ball, was attacked outside a Short Street unit block at 8:30pm on Wednesday.
She was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she later died.
The man fled the scene, and was chased by police northbound on the Bruce Highway.
The car continued after police used road spikes, and police allege it was driven deliberately into a police van on the Bruce Highway at Yandina.
Police said the man and victim knew each other.
A senior constable and sergeant were also treated at hospital for minor injuries and have since been discharged.
Earlier on Thursday, Detective Inspector Tony Green confirmed the victim had several children.
"They're currently being cared for by family and friends," Detective Green said.
'She was trying to hold my hand'
Danah Bourke lives near the unit block and said she tried to help the woman.
There is blood on the footpath outside Ms Bourke's home.
She said she was in bed watching TV when she heard screaming saying "help me".
"We heard scuffling in the bushes," she said.
She ran down with her partner to help.
"I put her into a recovery position and was holding the wound and I hold her hand and just kept holding her like: 'I'm here. It's going to be okay. I love you. I promise you, everything's going to be okay. We're here to help'.
"But in the moment of time as well. I'm just panicking."
She said the police came a short time later.
Later in the day, Ms Bourke washed blood off the footpath where the woman fell, after she was told by authorities that was not their responsibility.
Caboolture detectives have begun a homicide investigation called Operation Victor Ammi to examine the circumstances of the woman's death.
Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage in the vicinity of Short Street last night has been asked to call police.
