Woman falls to the road in front of cars after tripping on controversial bollards

Another person has been captured on CCTV falling after tripping over controversial bollards in Cardiff's Wellfield Road. The footage shows a woman trip over the bollards and fall to the ground in front of cars that had stopped to allow her to cross.

The woman, who drops her bag as she falls, is helped up by three pedestrians and helped to cross the road. There have been previous reports of people tripping over the bollards on either side of Wellfield Road, with a woman being said to have " sustained facial injuries " after tripping over the bollards earlier this year. Last year, a man fell over the cycle lane and broke his wrist.

A two-way cycleway in Wellfield Road in Roath was introduced last year as part of a pilot scheme that also saw the road made one-way. Footpaths were widened and parking was removed from both sides of the road last summer to allow social distancing. You can read more about these changes here.
