Woman dies in hospital after blaze at block of flats in Glasgow

A woman has died in hospital after a flat fire in Glasgow.

Emergency crews were called to the blaze on Sperishill Close in Yoker at 9.05am on Tuesday, March 7. Medics attended and on arrival, a 60-year-old woman was found within.

She was blue-lighted to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. It has since been confirmed that she died late on Wednesday, March 8.

Officers probing the blaze say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death or the fire.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At9.35am on Tuesday, March 7 police received a report of a fire at a flat in Speirshill Close, Yoker, Glasgow. Emergency services attended and a 60-year-old woman was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary Hospital in Glasgow where she died late on Wednesday, March 8.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death nor the fire. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
