Woman dies in car crash as road closed for hours

A woman in her 40s has died after a car crash earlier today.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a fatal car crash at around 8.25am on North Moor Lane in Halsall today (Monday, October 17). Lancashire Police shut the road for a number of hours, with the force now confirming that a woman died as a result of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency services. Sgt Phil Baxendale, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “This incident has resulted in a woman losing her life and my thought are with her loved ones at this extremely distressing time.
