A woman has died after falling from her mobility scooter into a Sutton road. Nottinghamshire Police says the woman, in her sixties, was riding the scooter along Alfreton Road just before 11am on Friday (May 5).

She fell into the carriageway near Alfreton Road's junction with Willowbridge Lane in Sutton-in-Ashfield. Police say she was taken to hospital with a head injury, but died later in the day.

Detective Constable Adam Rigby, Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This was a very sad incident that resulted in a woman's death. We are currently working to understand what happened so we can give her family the answers they need.
