A woman has died after being hit by a train near Wilmslow station.
Police and paramedics were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at around 11.20am yesterday morning (Monday). Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner. In a statement, a British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line near Wilmslow railway station at 11.17am on 29 May following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Following the incident yesterday, train services were cancelled or delayed between Wilmslow and Crewe. Services from Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe were terminated at Manchester Airport or Wilmslow.
