A Polish woman named Julia Faustyna shocked the world after she emerged on Instagram two weeks ago claiming she was missing Madeleine McCann. However, it's now looking increasingly unlikely that Gerry and Kate McCann will go ahead with a DNA test, the Irish Mirror reports.
The 21-year-old has accumulated over a million followers since making her wild claims as she compared her facial features in photographs of herself next to images of Maddie who mysteriously disappeared in Portugal 2007. These included an unusual mark in her right eye which is one of Madeleine's distinguishing features and a number of freckles and skin marks which she claims are similar to the missing Brit.
Julia also claims that much of her life hasn't made any sense and she can't remember large chunks of her childhood, leading her to believe she was a victim of abduction. She captioned an Instagram post: “I don’t remember most of my childhood, but my earliest memory is very strong, and it’s about holidays in a hot place where there was a beach and white or very light [coloured] buildings with [apartments]."
Last week, a source close to the McCanns suggested the parents were willing to take part in a DNA test to get to the bottom of the claims but that possibility has since gone cold. Psychic Dr Fia Johansson who has been representing Julia in the media, told 7NEWS in Australia that the young woman is definitely 'not doing this for publicity'.
She went on to say that Julia wants her own mum and dad to do a DNA test with her but her father reportedly refused. Johansson told 7NEWS they will now go to court seeking a DNA test order.
Numerous sources have cast doubt on the young woman's story including her own family and the police in Poland. Her family have alleged that Julia left their house with childhood photographs and her birth certificate which she claimed she could not obtain during one of her Instagram videos.
Polish police have also poured cold water on her shocking claims as Pawel Noga from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wroclaw said that authorities have 'ruled out' all possibilities of Faustyna's story having any level of validity.
The Pole's social media uploads have received a mixed response from the public, with some people sending her online abuse. Faustyna was upset by the comments and deleted two of her accounts as a result.
She posted the following statement on Instagram: “If you don’t like me, please unfollow. I don’t want fans or followers. I closed my Facebook account and TikTok so people can’t make fun of me, OK? LEAVE ME ALONE."
