Woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann 'didn't receive anything' for appearing on Dr Phil

A young woman who believes she is Madeleine McCann "didn't receive anything" for appearing on Dr Phil.

Julia Wendell was welcomed by the talk show host to discuss her claims that she is the missing girl who disappeared in 2007 at the age of three while on holiday with her family in Portugal. Detectives have spent millions trying to figure out what happened to Madeleine.

The Polish woman, who also goes by the names of Julia Faustyna or Julia Wandelt, discussed her early memories and showed pictures of herself as a child to try and support her claims on the US chat show. However, as reported by the Mirror, private investigator and medium Dr Fia Johansson has now taken to Instagram to say Julia wasn't paid for the interview.

Dr Fia, who is helping Julia, said: "We didn't actually get a dime to be involved with Dr Phil's show. We didn't receive anything, Julia [didn't] receive anything, Julia just went on the stage and was herself and told the truth.

"A lot of you ask if Julia made some sort of money by going to any type of press, Radar [RadarOnline] for example, all other things… no. We did not pay them anything, they did not pay us anything."

During her appearance on Dr Phil, the presenter revealed that Julia's mother remains adamant she gave birth to her. But Julia claimed this might not be the case as her mum "refused" to show her any evidence, including images from her pregnancy.

Julia has said she is currently waiting for DNA results to prove if she is the missing girl - however she claimed no matter what the result, she doesn't want to stay in contact with her Polish parents.

She firmly stated: "I believe I am Madeleine McCann. If she is my mother, I don't want to have contact with her that's all, but I believe she isn't my mother."

Julia was also read out a statement from her family.

The statement, which was released in February, read: "Julia also has these photos, because she took them from the family home with the birth certificate, as well as numerous hospital discharges.

"We always tried to understand all situations that happened with Julia. Numerous therapies, medicines, psychologists and psychiatrists - Julia had it all guaranteed. She wasn't left alone.

"Threats to our address from Julia, her lies and manipulations, activity on the internet. We've seen it all and we've tried to prevent it, to explain, we've asked her to stop.

"Julia once wanted to be a singer, a model. She always wanted to be popular. What's happening now she got one million followers.

"We're afraid Julia will carry the inevitable. The internet won't forget, and it's obvious that Julia isn't Maddie. We are devastated at this current situation."
