Woman claimed 'xx' in work email meant kisses and was sexual harassment

A woman took her boss to an employment tribunal claiming that the use of 'xx' in an email represented kisses. Karina Gasparova claimed that Alexander Goulandris used the 'placeholders' in an email including 'xx', 'yy' and '????' to indicate an interest in starting a sexual relationship.

An employment tribunal at London Central court rejected the claims. Ms Gasparova was a project manager at essDOCS and took the firm to tribunal claiming sexual harassment, discrimination and unfair dismissal.

The hearing was told Ms Gasparova submitted a formal grievance in April 2021 and resigned when it was rejected.
