A man is fighting for life and a woman has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting northwest of Hobart.
Police say the 74-year-old victim remains in Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition after sustaining gunshot and stab wounds.
Detectives have charged a 47-year-old woman from New Norfolk with attempted murder in relation to what they say was an isolated incident in the historic area on Friday evening.
She was expected to appear before Hobart Magistrates Court on Saturday.
Tasmania Police issued a statement late on Friday which said officers were attending the residence, an apartment complex in Humphrey Street.
A woman had been arrested at the scene and a firearm had been recovered.
Police say the two people are known to one another and there is no threat to the wider community.
