Woman catches incredible snap of King Charles on BeReal as he shakes hands with crowd

Since the sad news of the Queen's death, thousands of wellwishers have flooded to royal residences to pay their respects to the beloved monarch. From Balmoral and Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, mourners have lined the gates of historical landmarks to lay flowers, heartfelt letters and even marmalade sandwiches to nod to Paddington Bear.

As onlookers queued at the front of the Buckingham Palace gates to greet the new King Charles III this weekend, one woman managed to catch the incredible moment of being up close to the new sovereign when her BeReal app buzzed and she snapped a picture.

BeReal is a newly founded social media platform that notifies users when to upload an image, or 'story' at a random time of day. People have a few minutes to upload their photo showing what they are up to in that moment, and if they fail to do so within the allocated time their story is dubbed as 'posted late' for all BeReal users to see.

While many BeReal fans snap mundane photos of their daily chores, work life or even in bed hungover, Josie Cunnington managed to capture a historical moment as the new King greeted his subjects outside the palace.

After posting her lucky BeReal snap onto TikTok, people couldn't believe Josie's luck as hundreds of social media users were left gobsmacked in the comments.

The viral video, which has so far amassed 1.9 million views, shows footage of King Charles within touching distance - shaking the hands of excitable royalists in front of a sea of flowers left at the front of the palace gates.

The clip then shows the BeReal story itself - featuring King Charles surrounded by security along with a selfie of Josie with her mouth wide open in shock, standing next to another woman smiling.

When you post a BeReal story, it gets sent to your friends on the app - so Josie's pals were in for a real treat when she uploaded her snaps.

The TikTok video shows a stream of reactions as the woman's friends replied with their own shocked selfies - many were quite literally gobsmacked as they showed their mouths wide open.

Playing on the absurdity of the moment, Josie, who posts under the TikTok handle @ josiecunnington, captioned the post: "wish I knew why all these people were gathering around this guy ??".

The Tiktok video ends with messages received from Josie's friends after spotting the snap, one of which jokes: "is that Obama?1?!"

People flooded to the comments section of the video to share their shock at the photos, with one saying "Think you win the best bereal here…" and another adding "That’s amazing".

Many people were in stitches over the woman's friends' Obama joke, as one commenter said: "“IS THAT OBAMA” i'm crying".

Other TikTok users commended Josie's speedy photography, with one writing "PERFECT TIMING" and another adding "Mine woulda [sic] been blurry".
