A woman was left in hysterics after buying her son-in-law a personalised KFC mug, only to find he had been the one to donate it to the charity shop. Lisa Gregory, 53 from Swansea, was out shopping in town when she noticed the mug in the window of the Dogs Trust charity shop in Pontypridd had her son-in-law's name 'Shane' printed on it.
On seeing it she said: "He's quite partial to Kentucky fried chicken. It's a known thing in the family that KFC is his go-to takeaway.
"What were the chances of finding something like this? So I decided to buy it for him because he's a good son-in-law."
That evening when son-in-law Shane Price went round to Lisa's house, the retired customer service worker presented him with the gift.
She said: "I led him to the kitchen and pulled out the mug, that's when I saw his face drop. At first, I thought 'oh, you ungrateful so-and-so'. I said 'you don't like it?' and he went 'no, it's not that'."

But the problem was not that he didn't like it, as Lisa found out.
"He asked if I'd gotten it from a charity shop, then he said he'd dropped it off there a few days before," explained Lisa.
"We laughed about it, I just thought it was hilarious. It was only 50p at the end of the day - it was worth it for a laugh."
Shane, from Cardiff, admits he had been practicing his surprised face for the gift after in-law Lisa had been hyping it up.
He said: "Lisa had hyped up the mug before giving it to me. She's my in-law so I was totally prepared to show some gratitude.
"But once she presented it to me, she could instantly see there was something wrong with my face.
"That's when I had to reveal that I'd given it to the charity shop."
The mug had been a leaving present from his former teaching colleagues as it was known around the office that he liked KFC and would often have one.
When the two of them had stopped laughing from what they realised had happened, it was decided Lisa would keep the mug for whenever Shane went round for a cup of tea.
"Since I found out where the mug came from, it's been sitting on my kitchen window sill. I'm going to keep it, I'm not going to get rid of it," she said.
"It's going to be one of those funny stories. It'll be his mug whenever he pops over and he has a brew."
