Woman baffled by cost of two pairs of Primark trousers as price hikes 'go too far'

A TikTok user has gone viral after a clip explained the amount of money she paid for two pairs of trousers from Primark with many saying it is far too much.

Primark is well known for its low cost clothing which has made it the perfect spot to shop on a budget for men and women.

But the cost of living crisis has meant prices have gone up everywhere, including Primark.

TikTok user Lily - who goes by @lileviex on the social media app - recently posted the clip explaining her disbelief at paying nearly £50 for two pairs of parachute trousers in black and cream.

She was shocked when the person said they would be £44 (@lileviex/TikTok)
She says a few years ago they would have been around £5 (@lileviex/TikTok)

In the clip, she said: "I'm sorry since when did Primark become so expensive?

"Kid you not, I walk in and see these trousers right, parachute pants, Urban Outfitters who?"

Not expecting them to break the bank too much, Lily said she did not check the price tag for the trousers and just went to the till as she really liked them but that is when the shock came.

She continued by saying: "Tell me why when I get to the till he says £44 please.

"I'm pretty sure back in 2015 those would have been about a fiver each.

"This cost of living crisis man, it is just going too far."

In response, many have been quick to agree that the cost of living crisis is making prices everywhere increase as pairs of trousers like this would have been much less a few years ago.

One person commented: "I know right, they are getting so cheeky."

Another agreed and noted: "Even their pyjamas have gone up to £20."

A third penned: "You know it's bad when we feel like we can't afford Primark."
