Woman at wit's end after being unable to find missing suitcase in Dublin Airport warehouse

A woman has been desperately searching for her missing suitcase over the last two weeks.

Kasia Balcerzak said that she will never fly with Luftansa airlines again as she feels completely ignored. The mother travelled out to the warehouse at Dublin Airport as a last ditch attempt to get her belongings back.

Sadly, she could not find the suitcase and has still not seen it since her family holiday.

Kasia said: "We were flying to Frankfurt and then from Frankfurt to Dublin. First, we had a 20 minute delay because of the weather. After that, the flight was cancelled. When we asked what was wrong and why we weren't flying. They said it was over their hours.

"They gave us a hotel but without giving us the next flight. We went to the hotel not knowing if we were going to fly or not. Me and my daughter were on the standby list. We were able to fly back to Dublin on the second flight. When I asked if I could bring our luggage to the hotel they said no that it would fly with us to Dublin."

However when Kasia arrived in Dublin, her bags were nowhere to be seen.

"We landed in Dublin and we hadn't even gotten off the plane when I got an email saying that unfortunately the bags were not flying with us and that they would do whatever they can to bring the bags to us.

"When I got back home, I got another email saying that the bags were found and they were going to be on one of the flights home that day. Then that was it, there were no updates from Lufthansa whatsoever.

"I was ringing them every single day to see if they knew anything about the bags. I kept ringing again and again. I asked if I could just go the airport and pick up my bag."

Kasia eventually discovered that there is a warehouse out near Dublin Airport that is storing lost luggage. Kasia decided it was worth a shot and went out to the warehouse.

"I found the warehouse. I went on Thursday and my bag was not there. There were thousands of bags. I understand that the airlines are going through a lot because of Covid. I don't even know if people know you can go to the warehouse.

"I just kind of figured it all out myself. There was another lady who was missing her bags for ten weeks. When she got in to the warehouse, it only took her three minutes to find the bag.

"My bag was not there or maybe I just missed it because there were so many bags. They aren't in any kind of order. It's horrific.

"Nobody is taking responsibility. They are just not answering. I'm going back this week to try and find it. It's not right. It's not about the clothes. It's the fact that you're coming back from holidays hoping to have everything home back with you. I don't own much expensive stuff but my only expensive bag was in the suitcase. I would have flown a lot before Covid and for years Lufthanasa was one of the best airlines.

"Never again, will I fly with them. You can't just take the money and leave everybody with no updates."

Dublin Live has contacted Lufthansa airlines for comment.
