A female associate of slain gangster Gary Carey has been arrested on suspicion of leaking his exact location to the gang that murdered him.
The woman, who was well known to Carey, is suspected of telling associates of Derek ‘Dee Dee’ O’Driscoll of his exact whereabouts minutes before he was murdered in the car park of the Hilton Hotel in Kilmainham, Dublin 8 on June 24 last year. The woman, who is in garda custody tonight, is suspected of disclosing information about the mobster, who was known as ‘The Canary,’ telling the gang of his location in a nearby gym that day.
The woman was arrested alongside two men - who we can also reveal are the suspected shooters in the horror gangland hit. The men, who are in their 20s, are suspected of procuring the vehicles and firearms used in the hit - and of carrying out the shooting.
