Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after man found stabbed in street

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death in Old Swan.

The victim, a 39-year-old man from Knotty Ash, was found with multiple stab wounds on Rock Grove on Monday, March 14. Police attended the scene at around 8.55pm and gave him CPR but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A short time later a woman was found at a property nearby with stab wounds. She was taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries.

Police have confirmed that the woman has now been held in police custody after being discharged from hospital. The 25-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detectives have said that the investigation continues with CCTV and witness enquiries being carried out in the area. They have stressed that the investigation is still in the very early stages and they are keeping an open mind.

A post mortem is still to take place to establish the cause of death of the man. Chief Inspector Jim Wilde said: "This was a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. An investigation is now underway, which is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has happened.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Rock Grove this evening between 8.30pm and 9pm to please get in touch. You may have seen or heard something suspicious which has led to this tragic incident.

"It is vital that people with information, no matter how small, to please contact us as it might be vital to the investigation."
