Authorities in California have arrested a woman who was initially believed to be the victim of a home invasion that resulted in the death of her boyfriend, as she has now been charged in his murder. Pleasanton police announced the arrest of Kennedy Stith, 27, on Sept. 12, following an investigation into the death of her boyfriend, Edevion White, 32, who was found dead at the 5700 block of Owens Drive on May 1, 2023.
Initially, Stith claimed that two masked men had broken into their apartment and killed White. However, after a year-long investigation, Pleasanton detectives determined that this claim was false. Stith has now been charged with murder by the Alameda County District's Attorney's Office.
Authorities allege that Stith fatally stabbed White in the chest at their apartment on Owens and Rosewood Drive. Pleasanton police described Stith as 'manipulative, abusive, and controlling,' stating that she allegedly forced her boyfriend to sell drugs to pay bills.
The City of Pleasanton expressed its condolences to the family and friends of Edevion White and assured the community of their commitment to ensuring safety. Stith is currently being held at the Santa Rita Jail without bail.
