Woman and child taken to hospital after fire sparked by ‘deodorant can’ in Southgate

A woman and child were rushed to hospital after being rescued from a house fire believed to have been sparked by an aerosol deodorant can.

The two managed to flee after the first-floor bedroom of their end-of-terrace home in Telford Road, Southgate caught fire at 2.20pm on Tuesday.

Another woman was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews after suffering from smoke inhalation.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said on Wednesday the cause of the fire is believed to have involved an aerosol deodorant.

The LFB said they had the fire under control within an hour of turning up.

Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Southgate and Finchley fire stations attended the scene.
