Woman and child badly hurt in Leeds hit and run - now police want to find this man

A woman and a small child were badly hurt after a car crash in Leeds last month.

The accident happened on Friday, February 17 in Osmondthorpe Lane, Leeds. A Ford Focus and a Ford Transit recovery truck collided, leaving the woman and a young child with injuries.

Police say the driver of the Ford Transit drove away from the scene of the accident and drove down York Road, where he ditched the vehicle. The driver, a man, then fled the area.

West Yorkshire Police say the accident happened around 3.15pm. They have launched an investigation and released CCTV footage of a man who they want to speak to.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers from the Roads Policing Unit have released footage of a man they wish to identify following a collision whereby a driver failed to stop. The collision occurred on Friday, February 17, when a Ford Transit recovery truck collided with a Ford Focus on Osmondthorpe Lane around 3.15pm.

"A woman and young child suffered injuries as a result of the collision. It is believed the driver drove down York Road before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing the area on foot.

"Anyone who believes they may recognise the man pictured in the footage is asked to contact police via the 101LiveChat function on the website or by calling 101 quoting 13230096973."
