A US woman has left Brits aghast after whipping up a dish of fried eggs on a bagel - having cooked up the eggs in the microwave. Popular TV presenter Alex Murphy, who now lives in London with her British boyfriend, Paul Klein, shocked social media users after revealing what she claims to be the 'American way' of frying eggs.
In a video that has clocked up more than 1.7 million views on Facebook, the former Dancing on Ice star can be seen cracking two eggs into a bowl, seasoning these with salt and pepper. Then, in a move that will no doubt horrify breakfast lovers up and down the country, Alex, 34, can be seen popping the bowl of seasoned eggs into the microwave, setting the timer for one minute.

To the surprise of many, the blitzed eggs appeared to be cooked through. After topping the divisive dish with a slice of cheese, Alex gave it one more whir in the microwave before placing the eggs on a freshly toasted bagel.
Before presenting the dish to Paul - who appeared to quite like the recipe - Alex admitted: "I have to be honest, this isn't how you normally prepare eggs in the UK."
One horrified person commented: “Does she micro the chicken for dinner too?" [sic]
Another shuddered: “It looks like rubber – I’ve seen many Americans cook and I have to say they do a much better job than you’re doing here.”
A third said: “No thank you, don't know what's worse microwave eggs or microwave tea?"
Alex previously went viral after showing her American take on making a brew, leaving her British fans tearing their hair out in dismay at the sight of her microwaving cold tap water, milk, and a tea bag.
Boyfriend Paul was so appalled by the concoction that he actually threw his mug on the floor in disgust, much to their followers' amusement.
