A 61-year-old woman who was pulled unconscious from a pool at Townsville resort on the weekend has died.
Police say an onlooker noticed the woman in the pool at the Ville Resort-Casino at 10:20am on Saturday.
They performed CPR on the woman before emergency crews arrived.
She was taken to the Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition before dying there on Monday night.
Detective Acting Inspector Chris Hicks said it was a tragedy.
"We extend our deepest sympathies to the family in this matter," he said.
"The Forensic Crash Unit and Workplace Health and Safety are investigating the matter and preparing a report for the coroner."
A spokesperson for the Ville Resort-Casino said the business would assist police with their investigation.
"The Ville is working with all authorities investigating the incident and is supporting the guest's family through this difficult time," they said.
"Our thoughts are with the guest and their family."
A spokesperson for Workplace Health and Safety Queensland said the department was "working with QPS in making further enquiries" into the incident.
Police have confirmed the Townsville Forensic Crash Unit also investigates workplace incidents.
