Woman, 20s, hospitalised after being stabbed five times in horror attack in Kerry

A woman has been hospitalised following a vicious attack in the Ballymullen area of Tralee on Sunday.

The woman in her 20s is reportedly in a stable condition after being stabbed five times - twice in the neck and three times to the back.

She was taken from the scene and rushed to the emergency Unit at University Hospital Kerry where she was treated for her injuries.

The attack occurred at around 11pm in Tralee and two men have since been arrested in connection with the incident.

Both are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Tralee Garda station.

A technical examination of the scene is underway and gardaí say investigations into the attack are ongoing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any information about it is asked to contact Tralee Garda Station at 066 - 7102300.

A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “Gardaí are investigating an assault which occurred in the Ballymullen area of Tralee, Co. Kerry on Sunday 7th August 2022.

“The incident is believed to have occurred shortly after 11:00 pm. A woman, aged in her 20s, was later taken to Kerry University Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“A technical examination of the scene is taking place this morning.

“Two men (late teens, and mid-20s) have been arrested in connection with this incident and are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Tralee Garda station.

“Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has information is asked to contact Tralee Garda Station at 066 - 7102300.

“Investigations ongoing.”
