The charge of spitting levelled at Wolves forward Daniel Podence has been found ‘not proven’ by the Football Association, according to reports.
The 27-year-old was alleged to have spat at Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson during a fiery 1-1 draw at the City Ground.
However, there was not sufficient evidence to uphold the charge and after a personal hearing on Thursday, the Portuguese star is now free to take part in the rest of Wolves’ campaign, thereby avoiding the customary six-match ban.

Podence had always denied the charge, taking to social media shortly after the game to protest his innocence, saying “As I have been accused of something I haven’t done…I will make it clear: I DID NOT spit on Nottingham’s player. I’m telling the truth and I would never do such a thing even more to a colleague. Thank you.”
Podence’s charge was not the only one stemming from the game, which saw Forest fined £55,000 for surrounding referee Chris Kavanagh just before half time.
