Wolves Get Off To Perfect Start Under Vitor Pereira's Reign

Wolves were rampant in the first half against Leicester City and a win moved Vitor Pereira’s team to within two points of safety – watch the full Premier League highlights from the King Power here.

Wolves Run Rampant At King Power

In a battle of two sides fighting relegation this season, it was Wolves who took the lead at the King Power with Goncalo Guedes scoring on just his second league start of the campaign.

From a long floated ball into the box, Guedes did well to reach around his Leicester defender and hook an acrobatic finish into the bottom corner.

Guedes has now scored two goals during his time in England and could play an important role under Vitor Pereira as Wolves look to escape the drop.

The visitors doubled their advantage with just ten minutes until half time, as a horror mistake at the back left Rodrigo Gomes  in clear on goal.

A long ball from Matt Doherty was aimed towards Gomes and what should’ve been a simple clearance from James Justin led to the game’s second goal. Gomes finished well at the back post for his first goal in the Premier League.

Matheus Cunha capped off a perfect first half for Wolves under their new manager with a tidy finish off the post, continuing his good form with his ninth league goal of the year.

Leicester weren’t without their chances in the first 45, as Jamie Vardy had a shot cleared off the line just seconds before the visitors third.

After all but winning the game in the first half, Wolves sat back in the second period and were able to maintain their three goal advantage against a poor Leicester team.

WATCH: Leicester 0-3 Wolves Highlights

The win against Leicester on Sunday was just Wolves’ third of the season, but the three points took them to within two points of safety and Leicester in 17th.

Wolves will now look forward to a tricky Boxing Day trip to Manchester where they face an unpredictable United side.

Leicester now sit precariously just outside the relegation zone, with a trip to Liverpool to face the Premier League leaders coming up next.
