Wolverhampton Wanderers technical director Scott Sellars believes owners Fosun share his ambition of having homegrown players in the first-team squad amid Nottingham Forest transfer interest in Morgan Gibbs-White.
The 22-year-old is hot property at Molineux with transfer interest from the Reds as well as Leeds United. It comes after the talented forward enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Sheffield United last season.
He scored 12 goals and assisted a further 10 in 37 matches in the Championship. The Blades’ hopes of keeping Gibbs-White at Bramall Lane were dashed when they lost to Forest in the play-offs.

Wolves head coach Bruno Lage wants to keep Gibbs-White at Molineux and the club’s hierarchy are looking to tie him down to a new contract. Gibbs-White’s current deal at Molineux expires in 2024.
Gibbs-White is just one of a number of Wolves academy graduates to have been loaned out last season and made a claim to be given a first-team role. Technical director Sellars, who has overseen Gibbs-White’s development at Wolves, believes owners Fosun share his wish to see homegrown players in the first team.
“From the first day that Fosun came in, I was working in the academy and they said the academy was vital,” said Sellars. “It was going to be the big area that they wanted to develop players.
"And again, if we look at development players, we look at the performances of Morgan [Gibbs-White] and Dion Sanderson and Ryan Giles and Matty Sarkic, all probably performing at an elite standard in the Championship and three of those boys have been here since they were eight. So there’s been a lot of hard work over the years by people to really give these boys a chance and I’d like to think they’ll come back into the football club and progress with us as well."
