Wizz Air to launch nine new routes including winter flights to Egypt and Morocco

Low-cost airline Wizz Air will introduce nine new winter routes from its bases at Gatwick and Luton airports as it continues a fightback following challenges of the pandemic. The new services come after the carrier was announced as Europe’s fastest growing operator and the Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline.

New routes are scheduled to begin between October 30 and December 17, from Gatwick to Agadir, Morocco; Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt; Verona, Italy; Grenoble, France; and Marrakesh, Morocco. Four other services will operate from Luton, flying to Tallinn, Estonia; Hurghada, Egypt; Prague, Czech Republic; and Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Weekly winter services will connect with Grenoble, France, and two flights a week to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada in Egypt. Year-round routes will also operate daily to Prague and Marrakesh, four flights a week to Agadir, and three weekly flights Tallinn and Verona.

Prices range from £20.99 for flights to Prague, Grenoble and Verona, up to £67.99 for flights to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. Prices are for one way journeys and include a carry-on bag.

Managing director Marion Geoffrey said: “We are very excited to announce the addition of nine new routes from our bases at Luton and Gatwick. Despite the challenges the UK aviation industry has faced this summer season, we remain committed to the market and are pleased to be able to offer passengers the chance to discover even more fascinating destinations such as Tallinn and Hurghada, and revisit holiday hotspots like Sharm El Sheikh.

“We look forward to welcoming passengers on board our young, efficient and sustainable aircraft.”

Wizz Air received its award in recognition of its continued commitment to sustainability, specifically its ambitious fleet renewal programme and other fuel-saving initiatives. An integral element of Wizz Air’s sustainability strategy is its Airbus fleet, which is one of the youngest in Europe, and currently consists of 154 aircraft with an average age of just 4.93 years.
