HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday appealed to the voters in Karnataka to realise that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government failed to deliver its promises of doubling farmers income, giving 2 crore jobs every year to youth, bring back black money and deposit Rs 15 lakh into bank accounts of the poor.
"Without fulfilling their promises, both PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah are coming to Karnataka and making more promises. Don’t trust them. On the other hand, the BJP-government which gained the name of 40-per cent sarkar, is promising better governance. If you vote for BJP, it will become 50 per cent commission-sarkar," Revanth said while campaigning in Aland, Chincholi and Sedam areas in Karnataka.
Revanth said the price of petrol increased from Rs 55 during Congress government in 2014 to Rs 110 per litre under Modi-led BJP government, Rs 400 gas cylinder refill sky-rocketed to nearly Rs 1200. "Think seriously whether we need such a BJP government," asked Revanth?
"Great leaders like Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi and Indira Gandhi held the post of the Congress president. Today, Karnataka’s son of soil Mallikarjun Kharge is holding the AICC president’s post. Cast your vote to defeat the BJP-commissioner sarkar and vote Kharge-led Congress to victory," Revanth said.
Stating that the Congress won Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh under the leadership of Kharge, Revanth urged the people to give at least 150 of the total 224 assembly seats in Karnataka to the Congress. “We will also win the elections in Telangana, to be held later this year,” he said.
