The John Lucas Foundation is relaunching its annual celebrity golf classic on June 26 to raise funds for healthy living programs focused on mental health, substance-abuse prevention, and scholarships for youth basketball camps. The foundation is run by Lucas, a longtime member of the Rockets and an assistant coach in recent years.
Under former head coach Stephen Silas, Lucas was lead assistant over the last three seasons. His role in the tenure of new head coach Ime Udoka has yet to be announced, though Lucas is leading Houston’s pre-draft workouts as the team prepares for the June 22 NBA draft. Once the draft concludes, he can briefly turn his attention to golf!
