With Boston’s bad injury history luck, does it make sense to assume Robert Williams III might not return?

There is often a tendency to look at a serious injury close to the end of the regular season with optimism among fans of the Boston Celtics despite history suggesting a more conservative outlook might be in order and could be the case when considering the tear to Boston big man Robert Williams III’s meniscal tear and subsequent history.

From Kevin Garnett all the way up to Gordon Hayward, there have been hopes for a return for a key player while the Celtics have been in the hunt for Banner 18, and more often than not it has not panned out the way Boston fans had hoped.

This is not to say that rumbles that Timelord might not only return in time to play in the postseason but could even do so early are necessarily wrong, but instead that Boston fans ought to temper expectations given the past.

Such is a perspective discussed at length in a new episode of the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast, where host Adam Kaufman and guest Dan Greenberg discuss Williams’ return timeline, vaccine availability whispers, and more.
