Wishaw woman thanked for 'selfless dedication' to her grandmother

A kind-hearted Wishaw woman has been recognised for her devotion to her beloved gran.

Sheryl Campbell was nominated for our weekly Say It With Flowers competition by her grateful mum, Beth Shirlaw, after she made the selfless decision to care for her gran.

The 33-year-old Pather mum-of-two, who lives with husband Philip and two children Deri and Lilley, gave up her job to care for Helen Downie, 85, after she suffered a stroke last year.

Proud mum, Beth, told Lanarkshire Live: “Sheryl worked in Franco’s chip shop but she gave up to look after her gran after she suffered a stroke. She is so caring and would do anything for anybody.

“I live in Stirling and moved away about six years ago and I’m really grateful to Sheryl for taking my mum in. She has given up everything to care for her gran.”

When Beth told us about her caring daughter, we were only too pleased to help.

And surprised her with a stunning floral arrangement, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.

And on receiving the flowers a delighted Sheryl told us: “I’m definitely grateful to my mum for nominating me for the competition.

"As soon as my gran had the stroke I took her into our home and there was no other option.”
