Wishaw teenager remembered by friends and family two years on from tragic death

A tragic Wishaw teenager was remembered by friends and family two years on from his tragic death.

Sean Ford was only 15 when he tragically lost his life in March 2020 during an incident in Charles Street, Craigneuk.

He was rushed to the nearby Wishaw General, but died a short time later.

Sean’s family and friends came together at Cambusnethan Cemetery to remember a much loved young man including his mum Kellyann Berry.

Personalised balloons were set off at Sean’s final resting place to keep his memory alive.

Kellyann said: “Sean had an amazing turnout. It shows how much he was loved.

“I’m so thankful to all of his friends, I couldn’t do it without them.

“It was amazing to see. A lot of them went straight up there after their work so I’m really thankful.”

Kellyann also revealed she plans a special fundraising event on what would have been Sean’s 18th birthday.

“We’ve decided to do a skydive on that day to raise some money for charity,” said Kellyann.

“We’ve got a few of Sean’s friends doing it and they’ve even talked me into doing it.

“I am absolutely petrified of heights so I’m not sure how I’ll do it but there’s no doubt I’ll be on that plane doing it.”

Last September, Connor McMath, 21, was convicted of Sean’s murder at the High Court in Glasgow.

Prosecutors said Sean had “done nothing” wrong, instead being a peacemaker after a friend had been assaulted at the flat in Wishaw, on March 7, 2020.

McMath fled the scene leaving his stricken victim, who tragically did not survive the mindless attack.

He was handed a life sentence.

Lord Matthews told the thug “this one act of impulsive violence” had ruined a number of lives.

The judge went on: “This kind of thing sadly all too often results in stupid arguments and violence, which, in this case, was sadly fatal.

“The circumstances are even more incomprehensible as there was no need for you to get involved at all.

“You know perfectly well that you were responsible for the death of a child and that must be met with a significant punishment.”
