Wishaw playgroup host Easter events to raise cash to create new sensory room

A Wishaw playgroup have held two special Easter events to raise cash to help other children in the area.

Mollies Messy Makers, based at the Loyola Centre in the town, hosted two events earlier this week with businesses setting up stalls, bouncy castles and other activities.

All the money raised will be going towards opening the playgroup opening its own sensory room.

Lisa Moore, from Mollies Messy Makers, told Lanarkshire Live : “We want to open the room not just for sensory sessions but for babies, children and adults with learning disabilities in our local area.

“From the sessions we held over £700 has been raised which will be a real help to us.

“Opening a sensory room is something we have been thinking about for a long time.

"I know various groups have sensory sessions but to have a room itself for them to go will be great for those families who need it.

“On the day it was absolutely brilliant; from the moment it started we were mobbed.

“So many businesses were there to support us and set up stalls. We also had Police Scotland there and the kids had a great time.”
