Notably, school shootings by teenage females are rare in U.S. history, with males typically perpetrating such acts. Abundant Life Christian School, a nondenominational institution with around 420 students, lacked metal detectors but employed other security measures.

Law enforcement officials revealed that the shooter likely used a 9mm pistol in the attack. The shooter's parents, who are divorced, are cooperating with authorities, with investigations ongoing at the shooter's residence.
