For those expecting their bins to be collected today, Wirral Council said: "Due to the weather conditions Friday bin collections will not take place. Biffa will aim to collect today’s missed bins over the weekend and on Monday 13 March. Leave your bin out until collected.
"We're sorry for the disruption but, the safety of our residents and crews operating the bin wagons is a priority. You do not need to call us or report online your missed bin collections from today."
Bin collections weren't the only thing cancelled with the local authority stopping all transport it provided to schools, colleges, and day centres.
The council said: "We will endeavour to bring home any residential pupils from out of borough providing it is safe to do so.
"We will liaise with the parents, drivers and schools concerned. The safety of the passengers, the driver and vehicle being the primary concern. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
