Wirral and Liverpool have the highest proportion of GPs in the country, according to new data.
A recent study by think tank Nuffield Trust showed that both areas have double the number of doctors per 100,000 people than some other parts of the UK. Wirral tops the rankings with 80.7 GPs per 100,000 patients, whilst Liverpool comes in second with 78.2.
At the other end of the list are GPs in Southport and Formby, with 57.1 doctors per 100,000. However, the picture in Sefton is still significantly better than areas such as Portsmouth and Thurrock. Stark figures reveal that the two areas have only 39.5 and 40.3 GPs per 100,000 respectively.
