Winter weather expected to cause West of Scotland League wipe-out

Winter weather is expected to cause a major wipe-out of West of Scotland League fixtures, after snow covered parts of central Scotland, on top of heavy frost.

Some pitch inspections are expected to go ahead today (Friday) in a bid to limit the impact that any postponements might make.

Most games involving Lanarkshire teams are in the league, but Shotts are due to host Dundonald Bluebell in a rearranged South Challenge Cup third round tie, which is already possibly looking unlikely.

A statement issued by the league stated: "As expected, we are still stuck with freezing conditions and this is unlikely to change before KO tomorrow.

"Therefore once again, due to the current and forecasted weather conditions, some inspections will be going ahead today (Friday)."
