The exact location of the winning store will be announced at a celebratory event on Friday morning.

It comes as Lotto bosses say Ireland’s first jackpot winner of 2023 has yet to make contact with them. They have made an urgent appeal to players to check their tickets.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “This is an absolutely dream start to 2023 for one of our players in Co. Limerick. In the past 12 months, we have seen an incredible 19 millionaires made in the Lotto game alone but this is certainly one of the biggest!

“This morning, we are appealing to all our players to check their tickets carefully and if you are the winner, sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team as soon as possible.”

The Limerick winner should make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to claim their prize.

In total, over 82,000 players won prizes in the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws last night.
