The winners of our MyLoves Tyrone’s Favourite Pub have thanked the local community for their support in winning the award.
The Public House in Carrickmore came out on top in our poll of the county’s favourite watering holes. We popped in to the bar this week to present owners Sarah Loughran and Aisling Mullan with a framed certificate which will sit proudly on the wall.
Both women had spent time working in the bar before eventually taking it over three years ago. However, the village pub has been around since 1935 and is a mainstay of the rural Co Tyrone community.

“We took over in May 2019 so have been over the bar for the last three years or so, but the bar has been here in Carrickmore for a long time,” Sarah told MyTyrone.
“We wanted to take a new approach to it and thankfully people here in the village and from nearby have really taken to it. We get great support from the local community and that’s very important for a tight knit area like Carrickmore.
“We both worked here whenever we were in university. The opportunity came up for us to take it over and we just thought we would go for it.”
Aisling added that it meant a lot for those in the local community to come out and back their local. She also said there has been plenty of banter in the Public House about the recent award win!
“Somebody had sent us on the MyLoves competition, we didn’t know that we had been entered into it but then helped get the word out there to all our regulars to cote for us.
“It’s great to see that the people who come in enjoy their time with us. We’re very appreciative of that
“We were absolutely delighted when we heard we had won overall. It gave us a great wee buzz and there was plenty of craic with the customers about it over the last few weeks.”
