InYourArea is thrilled to announce that we have a winner for our Platinum Jubilee Street Party competition.
The lucky residents of Coleson Hill Road in Wrecclesham, on the outskirts of Farnham, Surrey, now have even more to celebrate on the Jubilee weekend - a £1,000 supermarket voucher towards their street party is winging its way to them thanks to InYourArea.
Busy residents aged 0 to 90 in the 27-house road are all excited about the prospect of coming together for their street party on June 5. We'll be sending a photographer along on the day - and we can't wait to share the photos.
Diane Vasey, of Coleson Hill Road, who nominated her postcode, told InYourArea that the Jubilee was the perfect opportunity to celebrate, as residents will be able to look back on times, both good and bad, with some having survived wars, as well as the pandemic and serious illness.
Diane said: "It is amazing, from when we started talking to our neighbours about how much they wanted a party - and from these chats we have had offers of a live band (we didn't even know we had musicians in the road!), a seamstress who is going to do bunting and a Girl-Guiding commissioner who has tables and tea urns etc in her shed.
"These are just some of the examples of how our little community has suddenly come together even before the celebrations!"
"Winning the money means that we would be able to offer more food, a crafty crown table for children, prize money for the best Jubilee pudding (copying Bake Off!).
"Some of our residents are housebound and also, if we had a bit of extra money we would be able to get someone for them so they can come and enjoy the day."
On hearing that they'd won, Diane said: "We're now going to have a real big party. The pressure's off and we don't have to scrimp and save."
Maxine Dalziel from InYourArea said: "We're so excited to be able to help make Coleson Hill Road's Platinum Jubilee party even more memorable.
"Their party sounds like a brilliantly inclusive, community effort and a real opportunity for neighbours to meet and build - or cement- lasting relationships."
"We love all things community at InYourArea, so the idea of being able to help people come together to celebrate Her Majesty's 70 years of service was an opportunity we couldn't pass up.
"Congratulations to our winners - everyone at InYourArea is hoping the sun shines on their wonderful event."
