Winger given Nottingham Forest advice amid transfer talk

Josh Bowler has been urged to stay with Blackpool for now amid Nottingham Forest’s interest in the winger.

The Reds have had bids rejected for the former Everton wide man, who has emerged as one of head coach Steve Cooper’s top targets this month.

Reports in the north-west say it would take “silly money” for Blackpool to consider cashing in on Bowler, who has been one of their standout performers this season.

And former Blackpool and Forest striker Brett Ormerod believes the 22-year-old would be better served by remaining at Bloomfield Road.

“I don’t think he’s shown his full potential yet but that’s also a good thing, because it means there’s a lot more to come from him,” said Ormerod, who had a loan spell with the Reds in 2008, in his column for the Blackpool Gazette.

“It wouldn’t be a sidewards step because Forest are a big club at this level, but I just think he’s better off at Bloomfield Road for now.

“If he wasn’t playing or not involved, I could see why he would want to move but, like I said, I don’t see why Blackpool would even consider letting him go.”
