
Update ahoy: Windrose's latest patch addresses those annoying connectivity problems by adding another option for players to try if they're suffering any lag. A litany of minor fixes have been made in tow, as well as numerous small additions to make gameplay a little better.
The topmost feature here is the new setting, called Force Relay Connection. Essentially, this pushes the connection through using one of the game's relay servers, if you're having trouble getting into a friend's game. It's not a full P2P connection, so ping takes a hit, but it'll hopefully allow you and your friends to play together. Note, though, that it doesn't work on Direct IP connections.
This is the latest in a growing line of changes developer Kraken Express has had to make following the launch of Windrose to improve the connectivity quality. The team was at such a loss post-release, they put out an open call for people who work at ISPs to help them triangulate the problems. It seems they've found some leads and have cultivated solutions.
Some crashes and other performance issues have been sorted alongside this. If you're someone who enjoys triangles, you're in luck, because 40 of them have been added for crafting roofs. A few more audio-visual tweaks have been made, including a three-minute extension of the bonfire ambience, and as someone who loves video game ambience, I wholeheartedly approve.
The list of other changes is long – this is a meaty, meaty update – but another two things that caught my eye are that the Alpha Wolf's bleed effect now applies at the end of a grapple, and bleed damage in general stops while being grappled. That should help players who've been getting mauled by the canine enemies, if even a little bit.
