"Dublin City Council has been contacted, requesting that they ensure the owners immediately secure this building. The former De La Salle school lands were sold to private developers by the De La Salle order.
"The site has remained dormant since with planning permission for 900 apartments granted by An Bord Pleanála. At the recent Area Committee meeting a motion was passed requesting that Dublin City Council contact the owners to see if they would be interested in allowing the building to be used as temporary accommodation for Ukrainian refugees.
"We would urge the developer to secure the building and engage directly with the local community. This is a major development and we want to ensure local residents are consulted with before construction starts."
The comments were supported by local Cllrs Daithí Doolan, Hazel de Nortuin, Vincent Jackson, Sophie Nicoullaud and Daithi de Roiste.
