Cameron Norrie joined Heather Watson in reaching the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time on another successful day for the home players at Wimbledon, while Novak Djokovic continued his impressive title defence.
Earlier, Watson overcame Kaja Juvan in straight sets to finally get into the second week of a major on her 43rd grand slam appearance. The 30-year-old wrapped up a confident 7-6 6-2 victory.
Norrie then built on Watson’s breakthrough by thrashing Steve Johnson 6-4 6-1 6-0 on Centre Court. The draw has opened up nicely for the British No 1, who faces Tommy Paul next in the last 16.
Elsewhere, six-time champion Djokovic continued his supreme form at the Championships with a 6-0 6-3 6-4 drubbing of Miomir Kecmanovic in an all-Serbian contest on Centre Court. Carlos Alcaraz also through after beating Oscar Otte but Maria Sakkari and Angelique Kerber both crashed out.
