A Wiltshire-based telecoms business has been acquired by fast-growing tech group Babble for an undisclosed sum.
Business phone systems specialist Berry Telecom, headquartered in Salisbury, was founded by directors Simon Langford and Paul Hallam in 2011, and serves around 1,700 customers.
The company is one of two freshly snapped up by London-based Babble, a communications, contact centre and cyber services provider.
The firm has also agreed a deal for Sussex-based Cavendish Communications - also for an undisclosed sum - taking its total number of acquisitions for this year to 6 - and 21 since 2019.
Babble said its latest purchases would enable its clients to switch to cloud-based services, as well as providing it with “more strategic locations” in the South and South West.
Chief executive Matt Parker said: “Berry and Cavendish have a strong track record of providing their customers with an exceptional level of service. Where we will add value is bringing even more innovation and variety with the technology we can offer.
“We’re delighted to welcome more great talent into Babble and together we can evolve the technology estates of our new customers to enable them to grow faster and more securely.”
Founded in 2001, Babble works with over 16,000 organisations across a wide range of sectors.
The firm has embarked on a buy and build strategy, backed by private equity investment firm Graphite Capital, with support from the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group LDC and management.
Its annual revenue has since rapidly grown to £60m – over 90% of which is recurring. It has over 50,000 cloud-based users, 50,000 mobile connections and 6,000 contact centre as a service supported agents.
