Leeds attacker Willy Gnonto has laughed off comparisons with fellow Italian Paolo Di Canio after scoring a scissor-kick volley in a 5-2 win over Cardiff.
Gnonto has received a number of plaudits for his performances of late and took just 26 seconds to open the scoring against the Bluebirds at Elland Road. The Italian international produced a sensational volley into the roof of the net, and then bagged his brace just two minutes after Rodrigo had fired Leeds into a two-goal lead.
The 19-year-old has now scored three goals for Leeds since his summer arrival from FC Zurich, but Gnonto modestly observed that Di Canio's iconic volley against Wimbledon in 2000 was the better goal.

Asked about Di Canio's similar effort from 2000, three years before he had been born, Gnonto told ITV: "Yeah, I think his goal was better. I think so (but) I think mine was also good. We wanted to start the game well and happy we did it. We concede two goals at the end but still we did a great match.
"We had a lot of chances, we could score even more, I could score even more but yeah we take the positives and try take it into Sunday (against Brentford)."
Substitute Patrick Bamford came off the bench to also add a brace but Gnonto welcomed the extra competition in attack.
"Of course we wanted to win in front of our fans. We tried our best, we showed what we can do and yeah, I would say we played very well," Gnonto said. "No, I think it is better for the team when we have all of these options. Yeah, we just try to do our best."
