It was a bad day for the Irish at the Alexandra Palace as Willie O'Connor and John O'Shea were knocked out of the PDC World Darts Championship.
O'Connor was riding a wave of momentum after beating Beau Greaves in his last outing. In round two, he came up against 25th seed Gabriel Clemens.
What was expected to be a tight and tense affair turned into a rout. Clemens dominated from start to finish and landed a number of high checkouts, including a stunning 131, to leave O'Connor on the brink of defeat.

When the moment arrived for Clemens to dispatch of his opponent, the German made hard work of it and missed a slew of doubles to win the match. Eventually, he fell over the line and nailed double three to send O'Connor packing with a 3-0 defeat.
Earlier in the day, John O'Shea put up a fight against his opponent Darius Labanauskas of Lithuania.
Twice in the opening two sets, O'Shea found himself two legs to nil down and on both occasions he reeled off three on the spin to win the set and race into a 2-0 lead.
But Labanauskas clinched two sets of his own on the spin to make it 2-2. In the decider, the Lithuanian needed five match darts before finally hitting double 8 with his sixth to clinch a 3-2 victory and set up a second round date with Ross Smith.
